Its recommended by the manufacture to have this service completed by a licensed contractor 2x per year. The reason for this is due to expansion and contraction. The other reason is because heat pumps have 2 modes and just because everything is cooling fine in the summer it doesn’t mean there isn’t something happening in the heat cycle.
Guardian recommends at least 1x per year.
